Ahsoka Episode 7, “Dreams and Madness,” was the first full look of Ezra Bridger in action, showing off his Jedi skills. After refusing his lightsaber from Sabine Wren, he states that the Force is his ally. While he does pick up a few stormtrooper blasters in the brawl, he mostly sticks to wielding the Force as his defense, especially against Shin Hati’s lightsaber.

This lesson was passed onto him by his Jedi Master, Kanan Jarrus. It is also a deep cut to another piece of media as well where Ahsoka Tano taught Ezra how to fight with the Force.

In the YouTube webseries Star Wars Forces of Destiny Episode 15, “A Disarming Lesson,” Ahsoka (Ahsley Eckstein) approaches Ezra (Taylor Gray) while he’s training with his lightsaber before the events of the Star Wars Rebels Season 2 finale. She examines his lightsaber, asking him how the blade makes him feel.

Ezra answers that he feels “strong, confident, and powerful” with a lightsaber.

Ahsoka smirks, retorting with, “Oh? So, you’re not powerful without it?” and then promptly throws Ezra’s kyber crystal into the grass. Drawing her own white lightsaber, Ahsoka swipes at Ezra and forces him to retreat.

At first, Ezra complains he can’t fight without a lightsaber. Ahsoka continues to question this line of thought, pushing him to rethink his method. With each attack, Ezra begins to swallow his fear more and realizes his power is not his lightsaber:

Ezra’s power is in the Force.

Using the Force to guide him, he dodges Ahsoka’s onslaught until he finds his kyber crystal in the grass. He snatches it up, slaps it back into his lightsaber, and blocks Ahsoka’s final blow with his blade. Ezra tells Ahsoka he realized he didn’t need his weapon because he had the Force.

It’s a nice little sequence that pairs well with the latest Ahsoka episode. While Kanan taught Ezra much, he wasn’t the Padawan’s only Master, and it seems that Ahsoka’s lessons have stuck with him, too.
