Episode seven of Ahsoka featured a rather timeless cameo, but it’s probably not the one you’re thinking of. While Anakin Skywalker made yet another appearance in episode seven, there was another familiar face that made an unexpected return as well. In addition to the late Jedi Knight, Anthony Daniels once again reprised his highly acclaimed role as C-3PO.

Daniels has been playing the beloved droid since A New Hope (1977), the film that started it all. While Daniels has nailed the role of 3PO in almost ten films, Ahsoka was quite the unexpected project for the character to appear in. Unlike his R2 counterpart, this is the first live-action series that 3PO has been a part of.

The actor took to Instagram three days after the episode was released. Daniels was full of love and gratitude after stepping into the golden armor for a big project once again. The actor also was not shy to publicly announce whose idea it was for 3PO to finally return

"“Never thought Threepio would have the honour to appear in the rightly lauded, Ahsoka. So we were both surprised to get a call from the Master himself, Dave Filoni.”"

Filoni, being the series creator, evidently asked Daniels personally to return for episode seven. Thankfully, it seemingly didn’t take much to sway Daniels to make his return. Additionally, Daniels shared that this particular crew on Ahsoka had been more welcoming than anything he could remember.

"“3PO and I have rarely had such an enthusiastic welcome, nor such loving support throughout our days on set. I hear that fans were moved to tears by seeing their golden friend, once again on screen. I was equally moved by the surprise ovation from the assembled team, as I finally emerged from that iconic figure. Maybe this is a good time to thank them and so many millions, for the love they have shown my friend over so many years. So… on his behalf… Thank you.”"

Daniels’ emotional Instagram post got lots of online attention, including tens of thousands of likes and over 600 comments. After Daniels’ positive experience with Ahsoka, one might be quick to speculate that we may see our favorite droid in another upcoming Project. Additionally, Daniels did tell comicbook.com just a few years ago that he wanted to be in all of the new Star Wars miniseries, including The Mandalorian. Three years later, it seems that Ahsoka has opened up a new door for this brilliant actor.
