This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 8.
The epic finale of Ahsoka left us with more questions than answers. The fates of the beloved heroes and villains will remain unknown, which frankly leaves fans hoping we get an announcement for a second season soon. Despite the uncertainty, there were several wonderful moments that made all of the stress and anticipation well worth it.
Here are the best moments from Ahsoka episode 8, “The Jedi, The Witch, and the Warlord.”
6. Ezra, Sabine, and Ahsoka take on Dathomir’s magic
After working as a team to defeat the Night Troopers, the trio are surprised to find themselves facing the same forces once again, this time revived by the Nightsister magic of the Great Mothers. The coordination of the three Jedi working together, combined with the creepiness of the reanimation of the zombie troopers, made for a thrilling scene where the powers of Dathomir were on full display. It was the perfect way to kick off October.
5. Ezra’s new lightsaber
Because Ezra gifted his lightsaber to Sabine, it was time for him to construct a new one. In the heartwarming conversation between Ezra and Huyang, Ezra learns about Kanan’s time as a youngling and has the chance to pay tribute to his Master by echoing his style in his new hilt. When Ezra ignites the saber for the first time, it is a shock to see the return of the blue color his first lightsaber had.
4. Thrawn’s triumph
In one of the series’ most shocking moments, Thrawn and his comrades leave Ahsoka and Sabine behind on Peridea. In his triumph, he has his first dialogue with Ahsoka, where he celebrates his victory and tries to plant doubts in Ahsoka’s mind about her future by reminding her of Anakin’s turn to the Dark Side. His familiarity with Anakin and Vader allowed him to anticipate Ahsoka’s plans and get the better of her. He returns to their home galaxy, carrying his mysterious cargo for the Great Mothers and preparing for the return of the Empire.
3. Anakin’s Force ghost
As Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang regroup on Peridea after losing the battle, they both feel that something is out in the distance. Ahsoka smiles out at the landscape in front of her, sensing the Force ghost of Anakin. Although she has carried the guilt of leaving him behind for many years, in this moment, we can see the peace she has found about their relationship. She has taken his lessons from the World Between Worlds to heart and has chosen to live rather than simply surviving under the weight of her guilt and grief. This final shot reminds us that despite their problems, there is still hope.
2. Sabine uses the Force for the first time
At the beginning of the series, Sabine struggled to move even a small cup, but now she has made a breakthrough in her connection to the Force. When her life depended on it, Sabine was able to reach out with her mind to pick up her lightsaber. This achievement provided Sabine with the confidence that she is meant to be a Jedi. Her skills continued to grow as she summoned the strength to help Ezra jump to Thrawn’s ship, fulfilling her promise to help him get home.
1. Ezra, Hera, and Chopper reunite
The moment many fans have been waiting for finally arrived as Ezra stepped out of his stolen ship wearing stormtrooper armor. In this emotional moment, Chopper immediately recognized Ezra, even with his face hidden. After their long separation, Ezra has finally made it home. Although we don’t see them embrace, watching Ezra’s smile grow and Hera Syndulla’s shock at seeing the person she helped raise make it back alive was moving. Something we can look forward to as we wait to find out what happens next is the day that Ezra gets to meet Jacen Syndulla, the son of his Master. It is a scene that is sure to be touching, just as this reunion was.
