Rich collectors of film-related memorabilia might be interested to learn that a C-3PO head that formed part of Anthony Daniels’ original costume from Star Wars: A New Hope will be going on auction next month. Daniels decided to part ways with the head after keeping it in his personal collection for many years, as he felt that it was finally time for it to find a new home. It will cost more than most of us will earn in a lifetime, which hardly comes as a surprise. Needless to say, the majority of readers will probably need to sell their homes before they can bid on this incredibly valuable and unique item.

The head was worn by Daniels throughout A New Hope, and it is currently expected to be auctioned for an amount between £500,000 and £1 million, as Reuters reports. That may seem like an extravagant amount of money initially, and you will probably wish it was available for much less. But when you consider the fact that it was prominently featured in one of the most famous films of all time, you will probably start to understand why the head is so expensive. It will also clearly be the pride of any fan’s collection, making it more than worthy of its asking price.

Propstore organized the online auction, and it will take place from November 9-12. Other items set to be sold throughout the auction will include Daniels’ annotated scripts, in addition to the hands and feet from his original C-3PO costume, and various items from other films. Although you will clearly need to be rich in order to bid, anyone who actually has enough money to participate will certainly not want to miss out. While the rest of us will have to settle for cheap C-3PO Halloween costumes found in thrift stores.
