On the heels of Ahsoka, there are only two more series before we get to the Avengers-style Mandoverse movie from Dave Filoni. One is The Mandalorian Season 4, which looks to have an intriguing hook with Grand Admiral Thrawn’s return and Din Djarin agreeing to hunt Imperial remnants. I wanted to focus on the next Star Wars show in the pipeline, which has been the more mysterious one of the Mandoverse group. However, I think we can better understand what might happen after the Ahsoka finale.

Let’s speculate how Ahsoka might set up Skeleton Crew.

Skeleton Crew has been promoted as a throwback series to the Amblin Entertainment movies like The Goonies and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. This idea is fitting as Kathleen Kennedy was one of the founders of Amblin and a producer of many of those coming-of-age movies. Skeleton Crew is about a group of kids who have to find their way home after being lost in the galaxy. The series stars Jude Law, rumored to be a Force user of some kind, according to Variety.

So how might Ahsoka set up Skeleton Crew? The most significant factor in all of this is Thrawn. He is back, and the series could have the cast of kids run into his forces. The New Republic could also play a big role with the return of the Star Wars Rebels characters like Hera Syndulla (who I’ll come back to in a moment), Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios, and the return of Ezra Bridger. Any of them could be a cameo in the series. Carson Teva has also been a presence in all of the Mandoverse shows thus far. He has been the biggest throughline from series to series. While the show will focus on the Skeleton Crew kids, the characters from Ahsoka are set firmly in this timeline to possibly appear.

Especially if Jacen Syndulla gets involved with the show as a surprise addition. I hadn’t considered this point until my fellow writer pointed it out in his article “5 burning questions after the Ahsoka finale.” Jacen is the right age with the other Skeleton Crew kids, and perhaps Lucasfilm waited to announce his involvement until Ahsoka aired. If he is part of their group, it would directly involve Hera in the show as she searches for her son. I highly recommend reading the full article, as my co-writer goes into much more detail. The possibility of Jacen Syndulla in the series is an exciting one.

The most far-out-there speculation is that maybe the Skeleton Crew rescues Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren. If this group is lost in the galaxy, perhaps they will arrive on Peridea somehow to help our other heroes. Both need to get home, and they could work together. Now, to be honest, I don’t believe this will be a storyline in Skeleton Crew. That said, I don’t want to leave it off the table either. Anything could happen.

Ahsoka has made me even more excited about what could possibly happen in Skeleton Crew. Knowing Thrawn’s threat looms over the galaxy and the characters Ahsoka introduced to live-action, Skeleton Crew could be set to be an exciting series on the heels of its predecessor.
