Star Wars actor Ashley Eckstein’s latest Disney project revealed
By Meg Dowell
Star Wars actor Ashley Eckstein, the original voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is embarking on a new project with Disney publishing.
According to Collider, the untitled audio drama will feature a full cast with Eckstein serving as the lead, co-creator, and executive producer.
The actor has led a versatile career since her original Star Wars debut. She is the founder of Her Universe, a brand specifically focused on creating licensed merchandise around various IPs such as Star Wars, Marvel, and more. She has also narrated a handful of audiobooks, including E.K. Johnston’s Ahsoka audiobook.
Last year, Eckstein also co-wrote a book, Star Wars Everyday, featuring a collection of crafts, recipes, and activities for Star Wars fans of all ages. She published her memoir, It’s Your Universe, in 2018, and is also the author of a Little Golden Book about Ahsoka.
She has partnered with Lucasfilm and Disney on many projects over the years, and it doesn’t appear their collaborations will cease anytime soon.
Even though Eckstein did not reprise her original role as Ahsoka Tano in the latest Star Wars Disney+ series, the actor seems to have enough on her plate — and she appears to be having fun focusing on other endeavors.
This original audio drama is only the first in a new Disney publishing IP. Disney-Lucasfilm Press publishes a wide variety of titles in various formats already, many of them novelizations and spinoffs of feature films. The addition of more original stories is bound to open up plenty of opportunities for writers, directors, producers, and actors across the board.
No release date has been announced for Eckstein’s latest project, with more information to come as the audio drama moves further into production.
