New Star Wars comics this week: Saving a princess (and Lobot)
By Meg Dowell
With so many upcoming Star Wars comics announced at New York Comic-Con earlier this week, it’s an exciting time for fans of this medium of storytelling as well as those hoping to get more into comics. There are many exciting ongoing series releasing issues this month, and you can check them out even if you’ve never picked up a comic before.
Here’s what’s new in Star Wars comics today, October 18, 2023.
Obi-Wan Kenobi 2
Written by Jody Houser, illustrated by Salvador Larroca, and published by Marvel Comics, this comic issue is an adaption of the second episode of the Obi-Wan Kenobi limited Disney+ series. This is the episode where Kenboi and Princess Leia meet and he attempts to save her from further danger.
Star Wars (2020) 39
This issue of the mainline Star Wars (2020) comic was written by Charles Soule, illustrated by Madibek Musabekov, and published by Marvel Comics. This issue is another Dark Droids tie-in featuring Lando Calrissian’s attempt to save Lobot. Dark Droids is a major Marvel comics crossover event that includes a main miniseries with crossover issues in each of Marvel’s current Star Wars comics runs.
Star Wars omnibus releases this week
In addition to these two comics, additional hardcover omnibus editions of previously released comics also came out this week (October 17). Both the Star Wars: The High Republic Phase I Omnibus Hardcover and Star Wars: Tales from the Death Star Hardcover are now available for collectors to purchase.
Each of these comic issues are available today wherever you get your Star Wars comics. You can usually find new Star Wars comics at your local shops or online if you want your new issues as soon as they become available each week.
