The Game Awards 2023 nominations are out, and even though Star Wars titles aren’t the most-nominated among the many video games up for recognition, the franchise is mentioned three times on the list — that’s a big deal!
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor appears twice on the full nominations list. It has been nominated in the Best Action/Adventure Game category alongside games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Cameron Monaghan, who voiced Cal Kestis in both this game and Jedi: Fallen Order, also received a nomination for Best Performance. Other nominees in this category include Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3) and Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI).
Also, even though the game hasn’t been released yet and doesn’t even have a confirmed release date as of these nominations, Star Wars: Outlaws also appears on the full nominations list. It received a nomination in the Most Anticipated Game category alongside games such as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to Fallen Order, continued the story of former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis who cut himself off from the Force after the aftermath of Order 66 and the death of his master. The game proved to be an improvement on the already outstanding original in a number of ways, with a story, performances, music, and graphics that have kept players hopeful for another sequel to follow in the next few years.
Star Wars: Outlaws was originally announced earlier in 2023 and is being advertised as the franchise’s first open-world game set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The game is expected to release in the first half of 2024.
