Young Jedi Adventures “Life Day” opens on Kashyyyk with the Tenoo Temple Jedi Younglings visiting the Wookiees with Masters Zia Zanna (Nasim Pedrad) and Yoda (Piotr Michael). Lys Solay (Juliet Donenfeld), Kai Brightstar (Jamaal Avery Jr.), and Nubs (Dee Bradley Baker) are excited that they have arrived in time for Life Day.
Lys speaks to a female Wookiee named Johgeshakka, or “Jo” for short. She learned Shyriiwook, the language of the Wookiees, or at least as much as she could in a short time. Jo invites the younglings to join them for her family’s Life Day activities.
Jo’s grandmother is the chief of this tribe. Master Zia is thankful to the Wookiees to be guests at their festivities. The chief reminds everyone that the most important part of Life Day is sharing it with loved ones. With that, they dig into the feast.
Afterward, Jo and Lys tell the boys about the Life Day ceremony (as seen at the end of the Star Wars Holiday Special). She explained that Life Day Orbs will be used to light up the Tree of Life. The Wookiees also use it to remember the ancestors that came before them. Jo is particularly excited because she’s old enough to participate in hanging her family’s Life Day Orb. Every family only has one orb, so this is a big deal for Jo.
Lys wants to see Jo’s family orb. As the youngling holds it, Kai bumps into her, causing Lys to drop it. It falls out of the Wookiee’s treehouse into the marketplace below. Lys feels horrible and doesn’t want anyone else to miss the lighting ceremony. Ignoring her friends’ protests, Lys leaps below to search for the orb.
Master Zia saw the entire thing and tells the three kids to go help Lys find the orb. That’s all the inspiration the younglings need as they head out into the city to look for Lys and the orb!
Despite the thick crowds of Wookiees, the three finally catch up to Lys. She doesn’t want to ruin their Life Day, but her friends insist. Kai comes up with a plan to split up the marketplace for the four of them to search.
After several attempts, they finally spot the orb being whisked away in a basket with someone mistaking it for blue fruit. The basket is on a mechanical lift, so Lys jumps on the machine to go after the orb. She reaches out with the Force to pull the orb to her.
But the machine is not made for Lys’ weight and breaks, plummeting Lys towards the ground! Thankfully, Kai and Nubs catch her with the Force. While everyone is relieved she’s safe, Lys is devastated because Jo’s orb got cracked in the fall.
They decide to go to the chief and tell her what happened.
Sadly, the chief cannot fix the orb, which crushes Lys. However, the chief reminds them that the point of Life Day is not the orbs; it is about the love they have for each other. Jo still wants to hang her family’s orb and places it on the Tree of Life.
Suddenly, it begins to glow with all the other orbs, completing the lighting ceremony. With that, the Jedi and the Wookiees celebrate Life Day together.
