When it comes to the future of a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars TV shows are likely to stick around in some form or another. They're accessible to wide audiences, often family-friendly, and have endless merchendising potential. But just because Disney+ could make any Star Wars show they wanted doesn't mean they will.

Star Wars fans typically aren't shy about asking for what they want -- even the ones who know their requests will likely go unanswered. Ideas for potential Star Wars shows have populated Reddit threads and listicles for years. There are some, however, that fans will likely never see on the small screen.

1. A TV show about Darth Vader

Darth Vader is possibly one of the most well-known villains in pop culture history. There are plenty of Star Wars fans who would happily sit down and watch a show all about him whether they like the character or not. Would it make money? Probably. Is Disney+ going to make it? Probably not.

Why Disney+ won't do it: Star Wars stories, for the most part, have done the right thing by featuring Vader in other characters' stories rather than making him the main focus. Star Wars comics have been, per usual, the exception to the rule. Lucasfilm knows just as well as we do that as iconic as Vader is, he's had plenty of time in the spotlight. He's best suited for a supporting role.

2. A Star Wars Rebels sequel series

The beloved animated series Star Wars Rebels ran for four seasons on Disney XD, beginning in 2014 and airing its final episode in 2018. Ever since its finale, many have wondered if Lucasfilm would ever make a sequel series featuring the same characters in animated form, perhaps set years into the future.

Why Disney+ won't do it: A live-action series called Star Wars: Ahsoka. The show, which is officially getting at least one more season, is essentially a Rebels sequel in live-action. Sabine and Ahsoka find Ezra; Hera flies her son around the galaxy while missing Kanan. It's not what fans wanted, but it's what we're getting, and probably nothing more.

3. A Luke Skywalker Jedi academy show

We don't know much about Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy in current Canon beyond glimpses we've gotten from some books and TV show scenes. While many have expressed interest in a series about Luke's students before Ben Solo's turn to the dark side, if a show like this does happen, it's not happening anytime soon.

Why Disney+ won't do it: Remember when The Mandalorian brought Luke Skywalker back and people only talked about the CGI? Rumors have been circulating for a long time about a Luke Skywalker "recast," and it could potentially happen someday. Even if we did get a show like this, however, it would be set before the sequels -- and outside of the Mandoverse, Lucasfilm has barely touched that era in recent years. If or when they ever will remains a mystery.
