The celebration is heating up as Saturday Night Live turns 50 years old. The show will have its 50th anniversary special, celebrating a rich legacy that includes the many actors who have starred and made cameos in several films and shows. The Mandalorian is one of the shows as many SNL alumni have been featured in the series. Also, many actors from the Mandoverse have hosted the sketch comedy show.
The Mandalorian actors who have hosted Saturday Night Live
Pedro Pascal, who portrays the titular character in the series, hosted SNL in October of 2023. The show's musical guest was Coldplay. Migs Mayfield's actor, Bill Burr, hosted the show in November of 2024. The musical guest for the evening was Mk.gee. Burr, who is a standup comedian by trade, performed his routine for the opening monologue of the series.
They weren't the only actors from the show who hosted SNL. In 2009, Rosario Dawson, who debuted her Ahsoka Tano on The Mandalorian in Season 2, hosted with the musical guest Fleet Foxes. The late great Carl Weathers, before his turn as Greef Karga, hosted the show back in 1988. Robbie Robertson was the musical guest for the evening. Only Pascal and Burr appeared on the show after they had starred in the Star Wars series.

Three actors from Saturday Night Live have made appearances on the science fiction show. Horatio Sanz, who was on SNL from 1998 to 2006, was featured in The Mandalorian's pilot episode. He played the Mythrol that Din Djarin captured and encased in carbonite for a bounty. Sanz would reprise the role in the Season 2 episode, "The Siege," directed by Weathers.
In Season 3, another SNL alumni would cameo on the series. Tim Meadows, who was on SNL for most of the 90s, appeared in the episode "The Pirate." He portrayed Captain Tuttle, who didn't believe that the Empire was returning and was a threat to the New Republic. The Empire may not have been a threat if the stormtrooper that another SNL alumni portrayed the entire Empire.
Jason Sudeikis, who was on Saturday Night Live from 2005 to 2013, memorably portrayed a Scout Trooper in the Season 1 finale of The Mandalorian. As he and another scout trooper played by Adam Pally were guarding Grogu, they began to comically speak of the Empire and also could not hit a small can with their blasters. Sudeikis also becomes Public Enemy #1 when his character punches Grogu, sending the internet into a frenzy and jokingly "canceling" him. It was a memorable moment for Star Wars and showed Sudeikis' comedic timing, which he was able to hone on Saturday Night Live.
The Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary celebration is set to air on February 16th.
