Adria Arjona plays one of the most underrated characters in Andor: Bix Caleen. A mechanic and scrapyard owner, Bix was helping the rebel effort by selling parts to Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgard) without even knowing. She is the one who introduces Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) to Luthen, which kick-started a chain of events that led to him becoming a rebel agent.
When Syril Karn's (Kyle Soller) squad lands in Ferrix to arrest Cassian, she risks her life to warn him, but not before reprimanding her boyfriend Timm (James McArdle) for snitching him out. Ironically, the Ferrix Incident costs Timm his life while Cassian escapes without a scratch with Luthen's help.
Bix takes care of Cassian's mother, Maarva (Fiona Shaw), when he's gone and she's nearly on her deathbed. When Dedra Meero's (Denise Gough) ISB team captures her for information, she holds out for as long as she can before Dr. Gorst (Joshua James) tortures it out of her.
If Cassian's growing faith in the Rebellion is the heart of Andor season 1, in many ways, Bix's loyalty and selflessness are the soul. The last we see of her is on a ship with Brasso (Joplin Sibtain) and Wilmon Paak (Muhannad Bhaier), leaving Ferrix and en route to Gangi Moon after Cassian rescues her from Imperial captivity. She looks battered and broken and barely in her senses when Cassian leaves her in the ship, but she mutters that she knows he would be back for them.
Cassian promises that he would.
We saw Cassian and Bix sharing the screen in some scenes of the season 2 trailer, and it seemed like they were back together in a relationship. The pair share excellent chemistry in season 1 from the get-go, and we find out in a later episode that they used to date in the past.
Cassian's frequenting her shop to contact Luthen sparked Timm's suspicion, which turned into jealousy and pushed him to leak Cassian's location to the ISB.
Adria Arjona confirms Bix and Cassian's romance
During a recent appearance at Star Wars Celebration, via Good Morning America, Arjona confirmed that Cassian and Bix rekindle their relationship in season 2. She also offered a glimpse into Bix's storyline.
"Bix really went through it in season 1," Arjona said. "When we first meet her in season 2, she has left her home - I really believe that Bix is the most Ferrixian woman that there is - and she's away from home and kind of really trying to reconstruct herself; what that means for her and how she's going to cope with everything that happnened with Dr. Gorst is very interesting."
"You kind of get a sneak peek into this beautiful relationship that starts forming. In season 1, it was like, 'What are you guys? Are you guys together or not?' In this season, you really see these two characters come together, which is really beautiful - probably one of my favorite parts."
We have to wait and see what happen when Andor comes to Disney+ on April 22.
