Star Wars has thrilled us all for 50 years. The adventures in that iconic galaxy so far, far away have never let us down, entertaining us for year after year, and it has no plans on changing that strategy at any point in the near-future, as there is an abundance of epic Star Wars content on both the big and small screen to look forward to.

Over the past five years, Lucasfilm has moved the saga's primary output to television as the arrival of the Disney Plus streaming service allowed for a lot of TV shows set in the Star Wars shared universe. From The Mandalorian and Ahsoka to Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Acolyte, there has been plenty of galaxy-expanding adventures for fans to enjoy.

Although they are now pivoting back to the big screen (with Mando leading the charge in next year's The Mandalorian and Grogu), there are still some aspects of the franchise remaining on the small screen. And one of them is on its way back to us sooner than you might think.

Star Wars: Visions season 3 promises an epic time for fans

The third season of beloved Star Wars series Star Wars: Visions is almost upon us, with a release date set for October 29 on Disney Plus. It hasn't been as well publicized as the live-action properties within the franchise but it's every bit as good - if not better - than those, with some of the greatest storytelling this iconic veteran franchise has ever seen. And now, it looks to do it all again - and it might just do that - as the third season's trailer promises an unforgettable adventure.

Watch it below:

Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of the third season, officially titled Star Wars: Visions Volume 3, is that it will feature sequel episodes to some of the first season's greatest episodes. "The Ninth Jedi", "The Village Bride", and "The Duel" are considered among the show's finest installments, so the idea of seeing sophomore outings from each of those respective Star Wars universes is all too exciting. We have no doubt that the creative teams involved will do the original stories justice while also serving up another compelling, captivating, thrilling and awe-inspiring adventure - something we've gotten used to them all doing with this show.

Star Wars: Visions set itself apart from the rest of the shows within this franchise pretty quickly. It's an anthology series that takes place outside of the Star Wars universe, telling stories that are inspired by it. The first season was completely anime while the sophomore outing featured more international styles of animation. It ensured that each adventure looked as vivid as the unique standalone stories that were told.

One of the beauties of anthology shows is the limitless potential when it comes to the stories they can tell. Being both animated and standalone, Visions can take risks in a way that other Star Wars shows simply cannot, and that makes it a much more unique experience. It also allows for potential sequel episodes down the line if the creative teams wish to revisit specific worlds that were only showcased in one episode - and now that we know we are going to see that in season 3, we're super excited to see what they come up with all over again.

It goes without saying that Star Wars: Visions is one of the most bold and innovative shows on Disney Plus, and that also extends to the entire Star Wars franchise. Although it doesn't get as much focus as the likes of The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett, it has continued to thrill audiences and earn itself a well-deserved place in their hearts. We can't wait to see it do it all again with its upcoming third season.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 arrives on Disney Plus on October 29, 2025.
