David Corenswet is currently dazzling audiences as the new Superman! This DC star has recently been on a whirlwind press tour, and from lie-detector tests to royal courts, one thing has come up again and again…Superman wants to be a Jedi.
David Corenswet's rise to fame has been swift and impressive. After gaining attention for his roles in The Politician and Hollywood, he was cast as the new Superman in James Gunn's latest film. His portrayal of Clark Kent has been met with acclaim, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor. Yet, despite his superhero status, Corenswet's heart seems to belong to a different universe.
In a recent appearance on Vanity Fair’s YouTube series, Lie Detector Test, Corenswet was asked by co-star Nicholas Hoult if he'd prefer to return as Superman in future films or take on a role in the Star Wars universe. Without hesitation, he chose the latter, saying, "A Jedi Knight in Star Wars... I'm already under contract for a [Superman] sequel, but I'd be fresh to negotiate for a Star Wars [movie]."
This candid admission sparked excitement among fans, many of whom have long speculated about which Star Wars character Corenswet could portray. His tall stature, earnest demeanor, and ability to convey both strength and vulnerability make him a natural fit for a Jedi role. He went on to say, “My dream role, I think, would be to play an X-Wing pilot. Jedi was my childhood dream, but now that I’m into aviation, I think X-Wing pilot.”
David Corenswet's passion for Star Wars is evident in both his words and actions. Whether it's his candid admission of wanting to join the galaxy far, far away, his unique viewing order suggestion, or his playful interactions with fans, Corenswet embodies the spirit of a true Star Wars enthusiast. As he continues to shine as Superman, one can't help but wonder: Will we soon see him wielding a lightsaber instead of a cape?
Given his rising fame, Lucasfilm would be wise to look in Corenswet's direction. The franchise could use some strong new additions, and it always helps when there are passionate fans of the franchise taking on roles in the franchise. We don't quite know who Corenswet should play, but there are certainly endless options that could be explored.
For now, fans can enjoy his performances as Superman, which is in theaters now. But given Corenswet's evident passion and talent, it's not out of the realm of possibility that one day, he'll trade in his red and blue suit for a Jedi robe.
