The cape is back! Tell your friends! Tell your family! The cape is back!
We got our first look at Director Orson Krennic in Andor Season 2, thanks to Empire Magazine revealing their covers for November. On it are Genevieve O'Reilly's Mon Mothma, Diego Luna's Cassian Andor, and Ben Mendelsohn back as Krennic. The tease for the issue reveals interviews with Luna, O'Reilly, showrunner Tony Gilroy, and Denise Gough, who plays the Imperial Dedra Meero, so that's something exciting to look forward to.
We knew that Mendelsohn would return as the fan favorite baddie has been confirmed to be in Season 2 for some time. It just makes me so happy to see him, particularly that ridiculous cape. In a total fan moment, I hope we get so much cape action.
It's a ridiculous choice for the character, one that he pushes upon others. In the novel Thrawn: Treason, Krennic sends his subordinate and assistant director, Brierly Ronan, along with Grand Admiral Thrawn, to spy on the Chiss. Ronan also wore a cape because, apparently, Krennic made it mandatory for their uniform. Anyone who worked under the director had to wear one, so I better see a ton of capes whenever the episodes are centered around Krennic.
This continues to bolster the speculation that we also might get Galen Erso in Season 2. It has been confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen, who played Galen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be at Star Wars Celebration Japan. As Andor will more than likely debut at Celebration with its release date on Disney+ just days after the event, this could set up a cameo from Galen. Krennic and Erso go hand in hand with each other, so it will be exciting to see Mikkelsen make a return to his role.
Andor Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on April 22, 2025.
