As the sun sets early like the twin suns on Tatooine, many around the country may be looking forward to the starting of the NFL season. The team that won the Super Bowl last season believe it or not has ties to the Star Wars franchise.

There is a sound designer who worked for Skywalker Sound when the Force Awakens and Rogue One were released. His name is David Acord and aside from being a Star Wars fan he is a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Before Disney acquired the franchise, Acord had the opportunity to work on such films as Attack of the Clones and the Incredibles. In 2015, he was one of the lead sound designers for the Force Awakens.

He was rewarded for his hard work with an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Sound Editing for the Force Awakens. Another reward may have been how incorporated his Eagles fandom into the film.

In the film, Acord voiced Teedo, the scavenger who unites Rey and BB-8 on the sands of Jakku. For part of Teedo's language was the Thai langauge. For some of the lines voiced by the character who added Eagles players Brent Celek and Fletcher Cox.

It must be enjoyable for a fan of two separate fandoms to be able to combine both loves and have fun at the same time. Personally, I am a huge Star Wars fan and am currently introducing my daughter to the franchise. I am also bleeding silver and black of the Las Vegas Raiders of the NFL.

Acord added more of his Eagles fandom into the franchise when he worked sound for Rogue One a Star Wars Story.

When Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor are looking for Saw Gerrera the production called for a prayer in the background. Naturally Acord used a language that allows for the "Fly Eagles Fly" chant to be incorporated into the film.

Acord most recently on the acclaimed series, Andor. He received an Emmy nomination for his sound work on the series. It was a momentous year for him not only for the series but also for the fact the Eagles won the Super Bowl for the second time in their history.

His Instagram page has pictures from both his work on the franchise and celebrating the Eagles.

Whether to it be David Acord, or Carl Weathers (who played for the Raiders in 1970 and 1971), the NFL and Star Wars are linked. It's a reminder that fandoms can be combined in a fun and enjoyable way.
