There are many rumors swirling as to the future of films in the Star Wars franchise. Many are wondering if the characters from the sequel trilogy will return in either cameos or stand-alone films. From Daisy Ridley to Oscar Isaac, there are many actors in the Star Wars franchise who have also been the subject of much speculation.
One actor from the final film in the Skywalker Saga is Keri Russell. The actress played Zori Bliss, a spice runner and one-time former associate of the main character, Poe Dameron, in The Rise of Skywalker.
The character was clouded in mystery with a cool look and design, but also displayed human moments and was one of the heroes towards the end of the film. Russell added to the mystery of the character and added depth to her, despite having only one moment in the film where you could see the actress's eyes. She also had developed strong chemistry with Isaac, who played Dameron in the sequel trilogy.
Pairing the two of them together could be a smart pairing if they wanted to move forward with the progression of either character. However, Russell, I believe, would do better as the main character with Isaac in a supporting or cameo role.
The franchise also needs to move past the Skywalker era and having Zori Bliss lead the spice runners would be something similar to what the Ryan Gosling film, Starfighter, is attempting to do.
The costume from The Rise of Skywalker would attract attention in her own film. Vanity Fair described Zori's costume before the film premiered. "The brass detailing and deep aubergine of Zorri Bliss’s suit invoke the glamour of Laura Dern’s Admiral Holdo, while the familiar silhouette calls to mind the bounty hunter Boba Fett."
Russell herself has displayed star power with both her time with the franchise and in the hit Netflix series, The Diplomat. She has enough star power to carry an entire film, even in a franchise as large as Star Wars.
In The Rise of Skywalker, in a brief moment, Zori Bliss tells the main character of Rey, "Not that you care, but I think you're ok." Rey (Ridley) responds simply by saying, "I care."
Every Star Wars fan cares about each and every part of the franchise. Zori may bring in that care if she is given her own film to undercover more of the mystery and strength Russell displayed in The Rise of Skywalker.
