StarWars.com announced multiple new publishing titles ahead of the Lucasfilm Publishing panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan next week (more on that here). The one that got me the most excited was an art book celebrating the work of one of the most important people at Lucasfilm.
Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy And The Star Wars Legacy is a new 800-page two book collection all about artist and designer Dough Chiang. The deluxe slipbook features his artwork and designs from across the Star Wars franchise and arrives on December 2, 2025. Star Wars also revealed the cover for the collection.

Since Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, just about every Star Wars project has had Doug Chiang's work part of it. The prolific artist, who is currently the Vice President and Executive Creative Director of Lucasfilm, has been a major force in the franchise.
After being inspired by A New Hope and the documentary The Making of Star Wars, Chiang went to school at UCLA to study filmmaking and art. He would later get a job at Industrial Light & Magic in 1989 where he worked until he left to be Design Director for The Phantom Menace. He's been a staple at Lucasfilm ever since, and you can see his full profile on Wookieepedia.
Chiang has been a major collaborator, especially throughout the sequel trilogy and many of the live action and animated Disney+ series. His upcoming work includes The Mandalorian & Grogu, where he served as the Production Designer for the film.
Last year, Chiang recieved the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Concept Art Awards hosted by the LightBox Expo. He was surprised with a personal message from George Lucas himself, praising Chiang's work.
Doug Chiang is such an important figure in Star Wars, and this new art collection is a perfect way to celebrate his work. Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy And The Star Wars Legacy arrives on December 2, 2025.
