Kathleen Kennedy is a woman who needs no introduction. She is one of the most prominent and game changing people who has ever worked in Hollywood. From some of her earliest production jobs like in 1979 as an assistant for the film 1941 to helming one of the biggest media franchises of all time in a Galaxy far, far away, she has built a career spanning over 45 years. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, she is looking to retire at the end of the year.

I could not be happier for Kathleen. I don't think people realize how much she has shaped our childhood and lives for generations. Just a shortlist includes the Back to the Future franchise, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, multiple Indiana Jones films, The Goonies, Hook, Sixth Sense, Schindler's List, and Jurassic Park. Some animated favorites include multiple English version of Studio Ghibli films, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Balto. That's just a short list of her over 100+ credits that if you read it, you'd see something that would make you go, "Wait! Kathleen Kennedy worked on that? I didn't know!"

However, for years, there's been a sect of people on the internet who seem to want to blame everything wrong on Kennedy despite her proven track record for decades of work. These people (who I am not calling fans) have spun over and over rumors and lies about Kennedy being fired and so-called internal drama at Lucasfilm. Well, a broken clock is correct twice a day. Because this news that has been wrong for years is finally "coming true" to their eyes. They are spinning her retirement as a weird victory for their ill-informed crusade because they have too much time on their hands and therefore, they get Big Mad (TM) when people with a uterus or have too much melanin in their skin exist. This is not their victory. Like always, they are trying to claim a woman's space because they don't know how to be normal, nor do they understand how the film industry works.

Also, I see you and your clickbait articles with dumb titles, like from Men's Journal, saying she's quitting. I would put money that if this were Dave Filoni or any man in Lucasfilm, they would craft that headline in a way that sounded loving and not like it was crowdsourced from a pack of feral misogynists. What they fail to acknowledge is there is a difference in wording. Quitting is me going, "Yeah, this knitting pattern is too hard for my skill set. I need to stop this project" Kathleen has busted her ass for four decades to help create some of the most beloved pieces of media of all time. Her legacy is going to outlive all of us. Her life's work will last generations. That's not some idle "quitting." That's called a well-earned rest.

Kathleen deserves this retirement. And for those saying they "won" some made up culture war because she's leaving, keep in mind that your heroes like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are going to be on her side over yours every single day of the week while you cry on YouTube.
