Ashley Eckstein -- best known among Star Wars fans for acting as the original voice for Ahsoka Tano in several Lucasfilm animated series -- is teaming up with Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels executive producer Henry Gilroy on her upcoming untitled audio drama project.
According to Collider, Gilroy joins the project alongside both Eckstein (who will executive produce and star in the audio drama) and Jeff Gomez, who will co-produce.
First announced in 2023, this audio drama will be the first in a new Disney-Lucasfilm IP that will likely expand into other projects in the coming years.
Eckstein has led a versatile career thus far, launching her acting career in the early 2000s and landing her first major role as a voice actor in 2008. She has voiced Ahsoka Tano in multiple television series as well as several video games. She is also an author and the founder of Her Universe, a fandom-inspired fashion brand. In addition to voicing characters in TV and video games, she has also worked as an audiobook narrator. So, the progression into audio dramas only makes sense.
She also has a long relationship with Disney, having grown up near one of the parks in the United States. One of her early acting roles was as a recurring character in the Disney Channel original series That's So Raven. She has worked with both Disney and Lucasfilm on a variety of projects, and will likely continue to do so -- probably dropping in to voice Ahsoka whenever she can.
Gilroy has written and produced for a variety of mega-franchises. He worked on Clone Wars and Rebels, but he has also worked in the DC universe and Marvel.
While there aren't many more details about the project available, the addition of Gilroy implies that we will likely hear more about it as the project progresses.
