If you are suffering from the lack of a Star Wars series set in the Clone Wars era, this might just be the perfect story for a spin-off show.
Five years after the conclusion of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and one year after the finale of The Bad Batch, the existence of a secret black ops division has just been confirmed. In the first issue of the comic miniseries Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents, written by Michael Moreci and illustrated by Reese Hannigan, Clone Force 99 receives a mission from Mace Windu which involves the "Ghost Agents" of the Galactic Republic.

In the panel, shared by Screen Rant, Windu explains how the Ghost Agents have a special role to play in the war. "Some of these roles go unnoticed, some, you can say, are clandestine," the Jedi Master says to Hunter. "They feed us invaluable information about the Separatists and risk their lives doing so. We've been able to protect them - what they do and who they are. Until now."
Windu then goes on to reveal that the list of the names of the Ghost Agents has been stolen, which is why the Bad Batch has been summoned. He calls the black ops operatives the "backbone of the Republic's intelligence community."
The Clone Wars period has always been one of the most loved by the Star Wars fandom. Even though the ongoing Disney+ universe is set in the New Republic era, the live-action flashback scene in Ahsoka episode 5 featuring Hayden Christensen as Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker rekindled the nostalgia for the era. Given that the original animated TV show mainly followed Anakin, Ahsoka Tano, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, there are a lot of opportunities to make new stories about the clones as The Bad Batch did.
This is not the first time we have learned about the Republic's intelligence force. The concept was previously explored in Jedi: Survivor with Bode Akuna, a former Jedi Knight who took on undercover missions in the Republic Intelligence under Lank Denvik. This hints at the possibility that the list that has gone missing includes multiple such Jedi, which would explain Windu's concern. Quinlan Vos is also someone whose specialty was staying undercover, and on one occasion he took on the job of assassinating Count Dooku with Asajj Ventress' help.
However, none of these are confirmed. There is much secrecy around the names of such operatives within the Star Wars universe. Windu, having knowledge of the list and who is on it, insinuates that he could be the leader or a high-ranked member of the squad.
All things considered, a spin-off on these Ghost Agents is simply too lucrative a Clone Wars story not to put on TV.
