Star Wars has always been compelling in the visual medium, from heart-pounding battles to high-speed chase scenes through a busy city. As much as we love the scope of an intergalactic struggle, the story is just as much about quiet moments of character development. Funko is now adding scenes from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope to its POP lineup that commemorates some of the drama.

Funko will release four new POPs celebrating Star Wars: A New Hope.

Via Collider, we can look forward to "a Pop Deluxe figure that features two elements: the droid R2-D2 and the Princess Leia hologram that he displays for Luke Skywalker... and Obi-Wan Kenobi delivering the princess's vital message that will launch Luke's journey to becoming a hero of the Rebel Alliance and Jedi Knight." This scene also captures the moment in which Anakin Skywalker's Jedi Master hears a plea for help from the fallen Jedi's daughter. The fact that her twin brother is also witness to this message is significant but not revealed.

The article goes on to say that the platform sets the scene in Obi-Wan's home, while the stone table used for the display includes "small containers visible on the table in the film, as well as a translucent blue detail on R2 to show that he is projecting the hologram." This attention to detail in the setting helps us imagine that we're seated on an available chair in Obi-Wan's living room.

The Pop Deluxe tableau calls to mind an eloquent speech, but the next figure being released needs no words. In Pop! Luke Skywalker (Binary Sunset), Luke stands on a bluff in his homespun farm clothes, a look of concentration on his face and we can remember Yoda's assessment that "all his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon." Or we might simply get John Williams' "Binary Sunset" music stuck in our heads. Yoda's commentary judges him for not considering the present, but we can understand his longing to make something of his life.

Third is Pop! Luke Skywalker with Remote that captures the moment in A New Hope when Luke begins to receive instruction in the Force. Wearing a helmet with the blast shield lowered, Luke brandishes his father's lightsaber. But this is not the part of his first lesson where he fails to block the training remote's shots. No, we see the shot intercepted with the beam spattering off the blue blade as Luke finally leans to "let go of [his] conscious self and act on instinct."

The last announced figure is a simple one, showing Luke in his orange flight suit and helmet, fully prepared to take on the whole Empire himself as Red 5 in the Battle of Yavin. Pop! Luke Skywalker (Red 5) is so poised that it's easy to imagine it being based on a statue erected in his honor.

The first of these products--the R2-D2 figure--will be released on March 25, 2025. We can look forward to the rest on April 2, 2025, but we can pre-order them now on Funko's website and count the days down to when we can add them to our collections.
