I have had enough of this whole Star Wars thing. Is it really "science-fiction" or a mythology or a space western? It's so muddled and confusing! Everyone is like, "It's a space opera!" but I have yet to have a musical episode.
What the heck are we doing here anymore at Lucasfilm? We have such wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey concepts like The Force that have no proof of even being real. So, we have been having behind the scenes meetings. The team has decided we want a more real franchise to cover. After a lot of hard discussions with the higher-ups at FanSided and with my group of writers, as the Site Expert here, I have an important announcement to make:
Dork Side of the Force will be no more!
We are done with Star Wars and rebranding into the latest FanSided site called "Dorks Boldy Going Somewhere!" We will be joining our sister site, Redshirts Always Die, to bring you all the news from not the galaxy far, far away but from the Galactic Barrier.
Here at Dorks Boldly Going Somewhere!, we believe it's important to go back to our roots. Star Trek easily predates Star Wars, setting the stage for it to become what it is today. It's been a hotly debated topic for years which franchise is better. Well, there will be no more arguments! Dork Side of the Force is DEAD, and it's not coming back through the World Between Worlds. We are making a stand to turn in its lightsabers for Phasers to help more people celebrate the first modern fandom giving us the geeky world we have today.
Which is true! Star Trek set the groundwork of modern fandoms through Zines and early conventions, which carried and saved both Star Trek and Star Wars. The only reason we call it "fanfiction" is because Disney created modern copyright laws. Curse you, Steamboat Willie. Always remember that Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is a Pyramus and Thisbe fanfic.
We are still getting set up in this new venture. Until we are fully ready to launch Dorks Boldly Going Somewhere!, you can check out Reshirts Always Die at the link above as well on Twitter and Facebook.
Happy April Fool's Day from the team at Dork Side of the Force! And actually do go check out our wonderful sister site over at Redshirts Always Die. They're lovely over there.
