At the Calgary Expo's recent "All About Ahsoka" panel, Diana Lee Inosanto told Collider's Maggie Lovitt all about her experience in Star Wars, including what an honor it was to work alongside the late Ray Stevenson, who passed away last year at the age of 58.
Ray Stevenson's performance as Baylan Skoll ended up receiving a very positive response, and the character became someone who kept fans glued to their screens. The news of his death left fans heartbroken as he passed away before the premiere of Ahsoka and didn't see the appreciation for his work as Baylan Skoll. Diana Lee Inosanto, who portrays Morgan Elsbeth in the series, told Collider that along with being an incredible actor, Stevenson was one of her favorite co-stars. She's glad that he was able to experience the love of fans at the Star Wars Celebration in London just a few weeks before his passing.
"Working with Ray was an absolute honor, because he's a veteran actor. He had me at the show 'Rome' on HBO, if anybody's watched 'Rome.' I miss Ray all the time. I'm so saddened that he's not here with us anymore. I'm so thankful that he at least had his moment to be with Star Wars fans in London, Star Wars Celebration, which is where we last saw him."Diana Lee Inosanto.
Inosanto also shared how Stevenson will continue to be honored for his contributions as a performer through the "Ray of Light Awards" in Ibiza, a festival honoring his lofty achievements as an actor over a career spanning many decades.
While Ahsoka ended up as one of Ray's final performances, his towering performance as the majestic Baylan Skoll will never be forgotten. Stevenson's other work includes roles in Vikings, Rome, Thor, and Punisher: War Zone. Ahsoka wasn't his first outing in Star Wars either, as he was the voice of Gar Saxon in Star Wars Rebels and The Clone Wars. Although he won't be back as Baylan Skoll in Season 2 of Ahsoka, his performance has left a huge mark on audiences, and Dave Filoni will probably find it very challenging to replace him.
Meanwhile, Diana Lee Inosanto will return as the voice of Morgan Elsbeth in Tales of the Empire, which premieres on May 4, 2024, on Disney+.
