Don't give up hope that we'll see a young Han Solo again, especially if Alden Ehrenreich thinks it is the right version of the character.
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Ehrenreich was at D23 EXPO 2024 to promote his upcoming project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ironheart, along with his co-stars Regan Aliyah and Lyric Ross. When asked about if he would ever return to playing Han Solo again, the actor said, "Yeah, maybe!"
"If it's the right version of it. It was such a fun character, and the story that I did was kind of like the making of Han Solo. So, I got to really be the like the Han Solo we know and love in the last bit of the movie. If it was the right thing, it would be fun to play him and be the guy in that way."Alden Ehrenreich
As someone who has a soft spot for Solo: A Star Wars Story, I'm always hopeful we'll see Ehrenreich again in the role. As I have stated many times before, Ehrenreich was not the issue of Solo. The issue of that movie was that it was filmed twice, which made it incredibly expensive. I always fear that Lucasfilm may have learned the wrong lessons as they invested in creating deep fake technology to bring Luke Skywalker to life in The Mandalorian instead of letting a new actor play the role. I'm a big supporter of recasting these classic characters while we still have the original actors around to guide them.
Billie Lorde has already played Leia in The Rise of Skywalker. Let her play Leia going forward.
Stepping off the soapbox, perhaps we'll see Ehrenreich's return as young Han Solo in the Lando film being led by Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover. As that project has had its own behind-the-scenes shake-up going from a show to a film, we'll have to see if it's greenlit to go forward.
Regardless, I'd love to see Alden Ehrenreich return to the role of Han Solo once again. He was excellent in the role, and it would be a joy to see him take on the scoundrel for another adventure.
