Harrison Ford honored at D23: "The stories are for you, about you, about us."
At D23 Expo 2024, Harrison Ford was honored as a Disney Legend. From Han Solo to Indiana Jones to the upcoming Marvel film Captain America: Brave New World, the iconic actor has had a long career which was showcased at Disney's biggest party.
Via Variety, the actor was touched by the warm response from fans in the audience after his introduction from Disney's CEO. "I love you, too," Ford opened his speech after the applause. “I love the life you’ve given me. I love the people that I’ve had the opportunity to work with. Nobody does anything in this business for long. We work in collaboration, no matter what who we are and what we’re doing. We're working on an idea."
"I have the privilege of being a storyteller." Ford then added, "An assistant storyteller. I have my part of the story to tell. But so does everyone else. The stories are for you, about you, about us, our common humanity. Being able to work in that area is a privilege."
The entire event clearly humbled Ford. He wasn't the only Star Wars creator honored as a Disney Legend. Part of the ceremony welcomed Frank Oz and John Williams along with the actor in the Disney Legends class of 2024.
"I'm very honored to be in the company of the other people that are being honored tonight," Good Morning America shared the end of his speech. "I'm really delighted and a little bit embarrassed by this, but I am so very grateful."
The other people honored as the 2024 Disney Legends included Colleen Atwood, Angela Bassett, Martha Blanding, James L. Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Miley Cyrus, Steve Ditko, Mark Henn, Kelly Ripa, and Joe Rohde. The event was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and is now available to stream on Disney+.
