How to watch Star Wars: The Acolyte
Star Wars: The Acolyte is a new series coming to Disney+.
Taking place about 100 years before the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the show follows Jedi Master Sol, played by Lee Jung-jae, investigating a series of murdered Jedi. The main culprit is thought to be his once padawan Mae, played by Amandla Stenberg, who has left the Jedi Order. However, not everything is as it seems, as something far more sinister lays in wait in the shadows.
The series takes place at the tail end of The High Republic era. This period has been developed from a publishing initiative in the last few years, stretching across books, comics, and even audio dramas. The time period is considered the golden age of the Jedi Order and the Republic as it explored their downfall into the state of things during the prequel trilogy. It has been seen on screen before in the animated pre-school series Young Jedi Adventures, but The Acolyte will be the first time the era is seen in live-action.
You do not need to know about the events of The High Republic to watch The Acolyte. However, we do have a great write up here, as well as an explainer of one important character, Vernestra Rwoh, if you are interested.
The Acolyte also stars Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss. The creator is Leslye Headland.
