As George Lucas was creating what would become A New Hope, several actors were being considered for some of the most essential parts. One was the galaxy's best kick-butt princess, Leia. Over the years, it has come out that many actors were in the running for Leia before the role fell to the wonderful Carrie Fisher. Some of those include Sigourney Weaver and Anjelica Huston. Another known person is Jodie Foster. While this isn't new information, she did say in a new interview that maybe it was for the best.

Because Jodie Foster doesn't think she would have been a very good Princess Leia.

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, via Business Insider, host Jimmie Fallon brought up Foster's iconic roles, including the one she turned down. Foster explained the conflict that made her step away from what would become Fisher's iconic part, saying:

"I had a conflict, I was doing a Disney movie and I just didn't want to pull out of the Disney movie because I was already under contract. So I didn't do it."

Business Insider notes the Disney part she was doing was 1977's Candleshoe with David Niven, Leo McKern, and Helen Hayes in her final role. Foster also shared her thoughts on how well she would have done if she had gotten to be the Princess of Alderaan, saying:

"And [Carrie Fisher] did an amazing job. I don't know how good I would have been. "

She joked about the iconic hair buns Fisher wore in the film. Foster noted that maybe she would have gone with a different hairstyle if she was Leia, making Fallon laugh:

"I might have had different hair, you know? I might have gone with a pineapple."

Jodie Foster is an iconic actor in her own right. While she might not have brought Princess Leia to life, her storied career has created some of the greatest films of all time. So, in the end, I think it all turned out okay. You can watch the full interview from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmie Fallon below.
