Star Wars fans were treated to a very pleasant surprise at the Golden Globes on Sunday evening, as Mark Hamill tweeted a picture of himself with actress Natalie Portman at the ceremony. This was a particularly significant moment, as it marked the first time that Portman and Hamill had ever met one another in person, despite the fact that they played mother and son in the Star Wars franchise. Hamill even tweeted back in 2018 that he had never met Portman, which came as a surprise to Star Wars fans. So, it was certainly wonderful to learn that both of the acclaimed actors finally encountered one another at the Golden Globes. We can only hope this will not be the last time they cross paths.
Hamill played Luke Skywalker in the original and sequel trilogy, with Portman starring as Skywalker’s mother, Padmé Amidala, in the prequel trilogy. It certainly seemed strange to think that the pair had never encountered one another in person up to this point, making this meeting all the more pleasant. Portman and Hamill also both looked incredibly jovial in the photo from the Golden Globes, as they were also clearly pleased to have finally met each other.
Portman was attending the ceremony as she had been nominated for her performance in May December, while Hamill was there to present the award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. Both Hamill and Portman have both been showered with critical acclaim throughout their acting careers, with Portman even winning an Oscar for Black Swan. At this point, fans can only hope that Hamill and Portman will eventually be given the opportunity to act alongside one another in an upcoming project. However, it remains to be seen if that will ever happen. But for now, fans will definitely be thrilled to learn that Luke Skywalker finally got to meet his mother at the recent Golden Globes ceremony.
