StarWars.com has released an exciting announcement for Star Wars fans. A second Mandoverse movie is in the works!

The Mandalorian & Grogu has officially gone into development in 2024. Also, in the press release is that Season 2 of Ahsoka has now been confirmed. The upcoming Mando movie will be directed by showrunner Jon Favreau. Like in the show, Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy are producers. Kennedy shared with StarWars.com:

"Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen."

Favreau also had thoughts on his new film, stating:

"I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."

While it was snuck in at the bottom, Ahsoka Season 2's confirmation should not be overlooked either. The last season's cliffhanger with the titular character stuck in another galaxy left viewers wanting more. While I'm sure what to do with Ray Stevenson's Baylan Skoll after the actor's passing will be addressed at some point, there is so much more of this story to tell.

While there are no hints at all about what the story will be, another interesting thing to note is that the concept art used by StarWars.com notes that it is for Season 4. Does this mean that the movie is taking the place of a fourth season? Or is this simply artwork being used in the announcement as a red herring to throw off fans? We'll have to wait and see.

For now, The Mandalorian & Grogu will join the ranks of other upcoming Star Wars projects. It's a great time to be a fan of a galaxy far, far away.
