One of sci-fi's leading actors could finally join a galaxy far, far away.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the cast of The Mandalorian & Grogu. While nothing is confirmed and it is far too early to speculate what sort of role Weaver could play, this is a huge deal.

Weaver is one of the most well known sci-fi actors. She's best known for the role of Ellen Ripley in the Aliens franchise, but her talent didn't stop there. Weaver also dazzled in Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water, the Ghostbuster films, The Cabin in the Woods, and (to give it a shoutout as it is my favorite movie of all time) Galaxy Quest.

A storied career deserves storied awards, and Weaver has nominated or won plenty of high caliber accolades. Some of these include the Academy Awards, the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Tony Awards, and no sci-fi queen's accolades is not complete without a coveted Saturn Award.

Not much is known about The Mandalorian & Grogu at this time other than it takes place after the events of Season 3. It will be directed by Jon Favreau with Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Kathleen Kennedy serving as executive producers. The movie will go into production this year. Kennedy told StarWars.com when the film was announced, "Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen."

This is such exciting news to see Sigourney Weaver possibly joining Star Wars. She is such a legend, and I can't wait to see who she might play if this goes through. I hope it doesn't fall through as Weaver absolutely needs to be in a galaxy far, far away.
