Emily Swallow doesn't expect to return for 'The Mandalorian and Grogu'
The Armorer has played a pivotal role in Din Djarin and Grogu's journey, but actress Emily Swallow doesn't expect to return for The Mandalorian & Grogu.
In a new interview with ScreenRant, Swallow said that "there's always a chance" that she'll return for the movie, but as of now, she hasn't heard anything. Swallow has been a series regular as The Armorer and played a pivotal role in Djarin's journey during The Mandalorian Season 1, Season 3, and The Book of Boba Fett. However, at the end of Season 3, The Armorer returned to Mandalore as the Mandalorians reclaimed their planet after decades, which could be why Emily won't have much to do in the movie.
It's possible that Swallow is being secretive and will make an appearance in the movie. However, it seems unlikely as The Mandalorian Season 3 already spent several episodes focusing on Mandalore, with characters such as Bo-Katan Kryze and The Armorer being pivotal to the plot. The movie will likely have a very different story altogether from Season 3. The Armorer won't fit in with the narrative, which may not focus on the rebuilding of Mandalore. The Armorer will likely remain on Mandalore, dedicating her efforts to supporting Bo-Katan and uniting the Mandalorian clans, as peace among their people is crucial to their existence.
At the end of Season 3, Din and Grogu left Mandalore and settled down on Nevarro. Din agreed to work for Carson Teva on a case-by-case basis to catch Imperial Remnants, signaling his return to bounty-hunting life. His priorities as a guardian and mentor to Grogu, combined with his responsibilities as a bounty hunter tracking down Imperial remnants for the New Republic, suggests that he will be too busy to help rebuild Mandalore, making a return there unlikely. With Din having no reason to return to Mandalore, there's probably little chance of him running into The Armorer in the movie.
As Din Djarin's journey diverges from that of his Mandalorian friends, he may find himself fighting alongside the likes of Ezra Bridger and Hera Syndulla, putting the needs of the galaxy above clan loyalty. However, The Armorer fans shouldn't give up hope as Emily has been a series regular since Season 1, so there's still a chance that Jon Favreau will find a way to bring her back for the movie.
The Mandalorian & Grogu will premiere in theaters on May 22, 2026.
