The latest episode of The Acolyte is crucial in unraveling what occurred on Brendok 16 years ago, ultimately leading to the separation of twin sisters Osha and Mae Aniseya. Episode 3, "Destiny," reveals, at least from one point of view, what went down between the Aniseya family and the Jedi, leading to Mae seeking revenge from Master Indara, Torbin, Sol, and Kelnacca.

Here are 3 of the best moments from Episode 3, "Destiny."

1. Mother Aniseya explains "the Thread"

Mother Aniseya's explanation of the Force is the perfect introduction for new fans that defines what the Force is. It's a Thread that binds all living things and their destinies together. Their choices pull on that Thread, altering their fate. Not only is this scene captivating in the way it's directed, but Jodie Turner-Smith is perfect in her role as Osha and Mae's mother and teacher. I know she makes a great witch, but she would've been even better in the role of a Jedi Master.

2. The Ascension Ceremony

This Ascension Ceremony has pretty awesome background music, and its direction reminded me of the Eye of Aldhani from Andor Season 1. While the latter is far more visually stunning, the Ascension Ceremony held my attention to the end. The ceremony results in Mae ascending to the role of a witch like her mothers and a reluctant Osha's oath being stopped right before completion because of the Jedi. It's good for Osha because her heart is not in the whole witch thing. This reminded me of Ragnar Viszla taking the Mandalorian creed in The Mandalorian Season 3. Ragnar was interrupted by a sea monster before he could commit to never removing his helmet.

3. The Fire

After a brief confrontation in which Mae lashes out at Osha for agreeing to go with the Jedi, Mae starts a fire that spreads throughout the Witch's fortress. From here, it gets a little confusing as we don't see what's happening to Mae as Osha tries to escape her room. The two blame each other for what's happening, and Osha watches her sister fall to what she believes is her death. She wakes up on a ship that's taking her to Coruscant and is comforted by Master Sol. On the other hand, Mae is alive on Brendok and is trying to find her sister.
