'The Mandalorian & Grogu' official release date revealed

Buckle in, Mando fans. We finally have a release date for The Mandalorian & Grogu!

Disney released a slew of release dates for their upcoming projects, including from Pixar and Star Wars. One was the official release date for The Mandalorian & Grogu, which will hit theaters on May 22, 2026, for the first Memorial Day weekend release since Solo: A Star Wars Story, via Deadline.

It was previously announced in a shareholder's call from Walt Disney Company's Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger that this film would have a 2026 release. It's great to finally have an official date that it won't be late 2026 for a Christmas release. That's also going to be a heck of a fun Star Wars Day on May 4, 2026, sure to be packed full of new merchandise, trailers, TV spots, and more for the film. This date was announced alongside Pixar's Toy Story 5 and Disney's Moana 2.

Little is known about The Mandalorian & Grogu other than the behind-the-scenes creators. It will be helmed by showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, both of whom are executive producers with Kathleen Kennedy. The film's plot is unknown, as well as who if it will be in the place of Season 4 or the Avengers-style Dave Filoni film that was announced previously at Celebration.

Pedro Pascal has also become quite the busy man between The Last of Us and the upcoming Fantastic Four movie in which he will play Reed Richards, AKA Mr. Fantastic. That said, Pascal wasn't in the Mandalorian suit for the entirety of Season 3, instead only voicing Din Djarin. The creators could film the movie without him, and if Din's helmet needs to come off, Pascal only needs to be there for those scenes.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released on May 22, 2026.
