This week in Star Wars Comics: The search for Mon Mothma
It's another week for Star Wars comics, and May continues to mosey along. We're starting to wrap up the 5 Wednesday month with only a handful of books left. This week, we only have one comic from Marvel, but oh boy! It's a doozy of a story.
Let's dive into This Week in Star Wars Comics!
Star Wars #46
This arc of the main line Star Wars comic has been full of twists and turns. Coming off the heels of last year's comic event Dark Droids, Lando Calrissian risked a lot to save Lobot's life. And by a lot, I mean he sold Rebel Alliance secrets to Jabba the Hutt.
Which put Lando on trial for treason by high ranking members of the Rebel Alliance.
This alone would be crazy, except for these secrets exposed Mon Mothma. The leader has now been captured by a group of mercenaries called the Scarabi. With one of the Rebellion's top people in trouble, the only person who can help rescue Mon Mothma is Lando. The race is on!
Star Wars #46 is written by Charles Soule, it is illustrated by Madibek Musabekov, the colorist is Rachelle Rosenberg, the letterer is Clayton Cowles, and the cover artist is Stephen Segovia. The month of May also has several variant covers running all month. In celebration of Episode I: The Phantom Menace's 25th anniversary, Star Wars #46 has three variants. One is the Action Figure Variant featuring Shmi Skywalker by John Tyler Christopher. The second is the Master & Apprentice cover by Phil Noto which features Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn. The official variant for The Phantom Menace by Chris Sprouse has Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Jar Jar Binks running from the giant sea creatures on their underwater trip to Otoh Gunga. You can see all the various covers on Wookieepedia
That's it for Star Wars comics this week! Next time, May goes out with a bang with several new releases. You're going to have to check in and see next Wednesday! See you then!
