Ubisoft corrects Star Wars Outlaws release window
The first open-world Star Wars video game, Star Wars Outlaws, is a highly anticipated project out of a galaxy far, far away for 2024. Currently, the game does not have a release date, and Ubisoft was swift to make sure it stayed that way.
In an article from Disney Parks Blog via Kotaku, the focus was on exciting Disney things to experience in 2024. Amid upcoming park news, new exhibits, and more, a little blurb about Star Wars Outlaws was slid into the middle of it. The game with no release date was marked as "late 2024." Within a short time, Ubisoft slapped their proverbial hand on the desk and said, "No, sir!" because the date was later corrected to be more general 2024. Kotaku noted an email from an Ubisoft spokesperson saying the date had been incorrect and was now fixed.
A game of this magnitude needs time to develop, so while a broad 2024 is the intended target, I wouldn't be surprised if it got bumped back. Or perhaps the release date is closer than we think, and Ubisoft is waiting to announce it themself on Star Wars Day or one of the many games showcases throughout the year. The cinematic trailer was revealed that way, so it's understandable if Ubisoft wants this to be on their terms. I'll happily wait as long as needed to ensure the game is complete. No one likes a rushed game that barely functions or constantly crashes.
Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws follows the adventures of Kay and her companion Nix as she fights, steals, and cheats her way into looking for a new life. However, it's not easy when you're one of the galaxy's most wanted.
Star Wars Outlaws is set to release in 2024.
