Experience the novelization of Revenge of the Sith in a whole new way this October

Annotations from the author AND sprayed edges? I'll take 20.

The single mention of Star Wars books will bring nearly every longtime reader -- Legends and otherwise -- to the forefront to rave about the Revenge of the Sith novelization. Author Matthew Stover has written many books set in a galaxy far, far away, but this is the one he's mostly widely known for. Few will argue that a milestone anniversary of its original publication is more than deserving of a special edition release.

Officially announced via Collider, the special edition of the book -- which will likely be more than worth the $60 list price -- includes 150 annotations from the author, sprayed edges, and more. It's almost as if this project were 20 years in the making.

"For 20 years, we've all had questions about how Matthew Stover created a literary masterpiece," Tom Hoeler, Editorial Director of Fiction and Special Projects at Random House Worlds, posted to accompany the official announcement. "So we asked him."

The cover pays homage to the iconic movie posters featuring the climactic lightsaber battle on Mustafar with breathtaking art, perfect for any bookshelf display. And that's only the outside. Between the covers will feature never-before-read insights from the author who brought us quotes like "This is what it's like to be Anakin Skywalker ... forever." (Check that edge -- it's right there!)

What makes this novel so beloved -- enough for me to quote it, appropriately, in my wedding vows -- is that it's completely unlike other film novelizations you might have read or heard about. The film the novel narrates is only the skeleton of the story it tells. It's a captivating and haunting depiction of what these characters are experiencing. Each sentence reads like a poem. It's widely recommended because it doesn't just understand the assignment -- it does all the extra credit without being asked.

It's a book worthy of celebrating, and it releases this October. If you haven't had the chance to read it yet, as I always say: It's never too late to witness greatness in the form of a book based on a movie about laser swords and broken hearts.
