Those of you who enjoy listening to audiobooks will be thrilled to know that a new Star Wars audiobook called Star Wars: The Jaws of Jakku will be available on October 9, as reported by Star Wars News.Net. The audiobook was written by Star Wars regular Cavan Scott, who wrote various Star Wars Adventures comics for IDW publishing, in addition to penning four of the Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space novels and many Star Wars: The High Republic comics for Marvel, and scripting segments for three episodes of Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.

Anyone who wishes to learn more about Jakku will no doubt be looking forward to The Jaws of Jakku, as the audiobook will feature a side to the world which fans have not yet experienced. The story takes place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, with the publisher's summary from Disney–Lucasfilm Press stating that it will follow Rey, Finn, and BB-8 returning to Jakku for Rey’s Jedi training to continue. Therefore, the story will clearly help to fill in some of the gap about what happened between the two films, which fans will no doubt be grateful for.

However, the situation on Jakku becomes more complicated when the trio becomes involved with the quest of a girl who is trying to rescue her lost family on the hostile desert world before they disappear forever. The story will also be told from this girl's point of view, with Rey, Finn, and Poe taking supporting roles. Although we do not yet know much else about the plot, we do know that the book will partially take place in tunnels underneath Jakku’s surface and that it will feature carnivorous insects known as gnaw-jaws, which were first mentioned in Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Rey's Survival Guide from 2015. And the cover by Jake Bartok shows a triumphant Rey with her lightsaber drawn and BB-8 by her side, with the pair clearly being ready for anything.

Star Wars: The Jaws of Jakku will be narrated by Helen Sadler, who lent her voice to many Star Wars animation projects in the past, it will also be the fourth audiobook in the Star Wars Adventures: Audible Originals series, which includes Padawan's Pride, The High Republic: Seeds of Starlight, and The High Republic: Haunted Starlight. The full audiobook will run for three hours and fifty-three minutes, making it a relatively short but no doubt enjoyable listening experience. If you would like to pre-order your copy of Star Wars: The Jaws of Jakku, you can do so from Audible’s official website ahead of its release on October 9.

If you're hoping to see the trio back in live-action, your wish may be granted. Rumors abound that Daisy Ridley's previously-announced Rey project has not actually been shelved, but will actually be part of an entirely new era in the Star Wars timeline.

No confirmation has been issued by Lucasfilm at this time, however.
