The Kristian Harloff Show has been heating up lately discussing the casting rumors of Ahsoka Season 2. Let there be a reminder as these rumors start to pile up that this is purely speculative, though Kristian says these rumors come from a reputable source. The rumor is that Natalie Portman is in talks with Lucasfilm to return to the role of Padme ‘Skywalker’ in Ahsoka Season 2. While exciting on its own, this rumor stacks with another that was broken on the same show that indicates Ewan McGregor is also returning to Star Wars in the second season of Ahsoka.

While it’s not likely that we would see Padme as a Force ghost given that she never displayed any Force abilities, there is a good chance she could pop up in a flashback sequence of some kind, or even an entire episode. When Ahsoka entered the World Between Worlds in the first season, we were gifted some flashbacks from the Clone Wars era. Wouldn’t it be incredible if both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala appeared alongside Anakin Skywalker and young Ahsoka Tano? Perhaps even the World Between Worlds will be used again as the vehicle for this reunion.

Natalie Portman was famously not a fan of her time filming the prequel trilogy yet has recently expressed interest in returning to a galaxy far, far away. Kristian Harloff has indicated that Dave Filoni would very much like to make this happen even though no deal has currently been reached. Portman is another great actor who would benefit from an additional performance set during The Clone Wars, as this could bridge the gap between the live-action and animated portrayals of the character.

In the same way Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor have seen a bit of a redemption run since returning to Star Wars series on Disney+, it would be nice to see Natalie Portman have that same opportunity. It’s not that their performances from the prequel trilogy weren’t beloved. However, at the time they were not very strongly received.

There is an entire generation who considers the prequel trilogy their Star Wars, and they have now grown up and have had children of their own. It’s been 20 years since the last appearance of Natalie Portman in a Star Wars project, and it would be very exciting to see Padme Amidala again in live-action.
