Skeleton Crew season 2 might not happen, but its biggest star will return

Season 2 might not be in the cards for Skeleton Crew, but Jude Law isn’t done with the galaxy far, far away. Here’s where his Force-sensitive character could show up next, and who he might meet.

Skeleton Crew may be unlikely to return for a second season but one thing is clear. Jude Law isn’t done with Star Wars just yet.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, Law’s character, the Force-sensitive Jod Na Nawood, is expected to return in future Star Wars projects. The show, which was marketed as The Goonies meets Star Wars, premiered quietly amidst the whirlwind of Ahsoka and Andor, and hasn’t been given a green light for season 2.

However, Law’s return already seems to have been set in motion. If it pans out, that opens the door to myriad possibilities.

While Skeleton Crew didn’t get the social media fanfare of The Mandalorian or the critical buzz of Andor, Nawood stood out (and not only because he was played by an A-lister.) His connection to the Force was never fully explained, and leaves plenty of room for exploration. Could he be yet another Jedi who somehow survived Order 66? A self-taught Force user who never had the opportunity to become a Padawan? Or, perhaps, part of a non-Jedi tradition of Force users, like the Guardians of the Whills?

Nawood’s mysterious background could be explored in any number of upcoming projects like The Mandalorian & Grogu, Ahsoka season 2, or something as-yet unannounced. If Lucasfilm is serious about bridging timelines and building toward a unified post-Return of the Jedi era, Law’s character could serve as a thread tying various projects together.

Let’s talk timing for a second.

Skeleton Crew is set in the New Republic era, the same post-ROTJ timeframe as The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Book of Boba Fett. It officially takes place around 9 ABY.

That means Jude Law’s character could feasibly cross paths with any number of key players, including the one and only Hondo Ohnaka.

More than a few Star Wars fans expected Ohnaka to make a cameo in Skeleton Crew, but it didn’t come to pass, leaving the door open for a future live-action debut. The pirate with a heart of (mostly tarnished) gold has been a fan favorite since The Clone Wars and Rebels

A potential crossover with Nawood makes timeline sense. Plus, both have connections to young characters (Skeleton Crew and Hondo’s episodes with Ezra, Ahsoka, and younglings), and both operate in that gray area between rogue and mentor. And, of course, both have a clear connection to piracy.

Although Skeleton Crew may have been a quiet addition to the Star Wars canon, Jude Law’s not fading away. Nawood’s potential return signals that Lucasfilm has an interest in further exploring what his character represents—an outsider, a mentor, a wildcard with Force sensitivity but no fixed allegiance.

Even if Skeleton Crew sails off into one-season status, Jude Law’s role in the Star Wars saga may be just beginning.
