Alan Tudyk has a way of stealing scenes, whether he’s voicing the sarcastic droid K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story or starring in series like Resident Alien. When Tudyk names a favorite show, fans tend to listen.
In a recent interview with CBR, Tudyk revealed that his current TV obsession is Severance, the Apple TV+ hit starring Adam Scott. “Oh man, I love Severance,” Tudyk said. “That’s the best show I’ve seen in a long time. That show really messed me up.”
Coming from someone whose acting chops include everything from a rogue droid to a Shakespearean fool, that’s high praise. Severance, with its eerie corporate tone, puzzle-box structure, and haunting performances, seems like exactly the kind of cerebral sci-fi Tudyk gravitates toward both personally and professionally.
Severance, created by Dan Erickson and directed in part by Ben Stiller, follows a group of employees at Lumon Industries who undergo a surgical procedure to separate their work and personal memories. The result is a chilling, slow-burn exploration of identity, corporate ethics, and the cost of compartmentalization, all wrapped in slick visuals and unsettling performances.
Tudyk’s appreciation for the show adds another layer of fan cred. Known for choosing thoughtful, offbeat roles, his love for Severance is a signal to viewers who crave great storytelling (kind of like Tudyk’s latest Star Wars series, Andor).
Tony Gilory’s acclaimed Star Wars project trades “space opera” for slow-burns and character-driven story arcs.
If you’re a fan of Rogue One’s grittier take on the galaxy far, far away, Severance might just scratch that same itch, with fewer blasters and more existential dread. If you’re between Star Wars projects and looking for a new binge that blends sci-fi, satire, and sharp commentary, Alan Tudyk just handed you your next big binge.
Of course, if you’re looking for a new movie to enjoy rather than a new show, we’d definitely suggest checking out Superman. While the film might not be set in a galaxy far, far away, it does happen to feature Tudyk… or at least his voice!
Tudyk lends his voice to the character of Superman Robot #4, one of Superman’s robot assistants who tend to his needs at the Fortress of Solitude. It’s a fun role, and Star Wars fans are sure to appreciate Tudyk’s signature humor in the role. ,
Severance is streaming now on Apple TV+, while Superman is currently in theaters.
