As fans gear up to head to Japan for Star Wars Celebration, StarWars.com teased a new experience that will be showcased at the con as well as a prequel comic book story to go with it.

Star Wars: Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset is under development and fans can get their first look at it at Celebration. This experience will be for Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets, and it's being developed by a team up between Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic.

The experience features racing newcomer Volo Bolus during the time period of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Teaming up with the great racer Sebulba, who is still kicking around since his devilish deeds in The Phantom Menace, Beyond Victory has the duo in a fast pace mixed reality experience to tell their story.

While at Star Wars Celebration, fans can pick up a prequel comic called Star Wars: Beyond Victory, setting up Volo's story. The new title will be written by Ethan Sacks, the artists will be Will Sliney, Steven Cummings, and Shogo Aoki, and the cover artist will be Phil Noto. Sadly, you're not going to be able to hit up your local comic book store for this title. This book is only available at the Meta Quest and ILM booth at Celebration Japan.

The director of Star Wars: Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset, Jose Perez III, spoke to StarWars.com about the experience, saying, "We’re beyond excited to share an early look at this new experience with the incredible Star Wars community at Star Wars Celebration this year. Our goal at ILM has always been to find new and exciting ways for players to experience Star Wars stories. Focusing on mixed reality has opened several fascinating doors from an immersion standpoint and allows us to literally bring a galaxy far, far away right into the comfort of players’ homes in a way that’s unlike anything we’ve done before.”

Be on the lookout for more details about Star Wars: Beyond Victory - A Mixed Reality Playset during Star Wars Celebration Japan, which is April 18-20.
