One of the best things about being a fan of popular media is seeing how your favorite franchises can intersect with ordinary life. Stormtroopers and R2-D2 visited the White House in 2015 to screen Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens for Gold Star Families. The National Women's Soccer League has hosted several Star Wars nights in which fans could dress up as their favorite characters on May the 4th. Now, Major League Baseball is joining in as Boston's Fenway Park prepares to have a Star Wars night this May.

What do we know about the Boston Red Sox's Star Wars Night 2025?

Let's go right to the source and what the Major League Baseball site reveals. The May the Fourth Be With You game will be played at 1:35 p.m. as a home game. The Minnesota Twins will be the opponents. Quoting Anakin Skywalker himself, the official announcement says, "This is where the fun begins!" The game will be "in honor of the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" and they anticipate that "Red Sox fans will either join the Sith or the Jedi Order."

As with many themed nights in the MLB, there's a giveaway and in this case, "Ticket holders who purchase through this special offer will receive a random Sith or Jedi themed Red Sox hooded long sleeve jersey." They'll also be able to get a Red Sox Star Wars mini bat and the ticket grants them early entrance to the park so they can take advantage of the fact that "the 501st New England Garrison will be available for pictures around the stadium." The hooded jerseys will have stylized Jedi robes beneath the Red Sox lettering or a version of Vader's armor.

Star Wars is my passion, but the Red Sox are my religion. This is especially true given that I was taught my enthusiasm for baseball by a Boston sportscaster at church, but I passed by Fenway on the way to and from high school. For the long decades that the "Curse of the Bambino" kept the Boston Red Sox from winning the World Series, I called the New York Yankees the Evil Empire long before a 2013 trademark case officially let them claim the title. Heck, they even played the Imperial March when presenting the opposing team at Yankee Stadium. The 2004 World Series, in which the Boston Red Sox won the championship for the first time in 86 years, was in my opinion comparable to the victory at Endor. Long story short, yes, I'm hoping to get tickets for this game and hope to bring home a Sith jersey.

Tickets for the May the 4th game against the Minnesota Twins can be purchased through MLB's ticketing website, but if you intend to bring more than 15 Padawans as backup, contact ticketoffice@redsox.com.
