Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles remastered coming next year

Ignite your lightsaber and grab a friend for an adventure. The classic side-scrolling action video game Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is getting a remastered release on January 23, 2025. This collaboration between Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr, celebrating the game's 25th anniversary, will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam.

StarWars.com revealed the official announcement with plenty of exciting details. Along with the cast of characters from the original game, there are 13 new friends and enemies to unlock for players. These include Padme Amidala, Darth Maul, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Captain Panaka, and more. Aspyr, the port specialists who are behind the project, is taking the original Sega Dreamcast source code and updating for modern consoles. Don't worry, though! Cheat codes are still available!

Along with new levels to play through, there are also practice rooms to hone your skills, which will definitely help you in those boss battles! The VS Mode can let you battle it out with various characters for fun. That's not the only team action either as a new couch co-op so you and a friend can tackle the adventures together.

Via IGN, the official announcement from Aspyr states, "Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles with this fast-paced lightsaber action game featuring enhanced gameplay, models, environments, game modes, and more. Use the power of the Force and your trusty lightsaber against legions of droids, assassins, and other legendary foes as you fight through iconic locations from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace like Theed Palace and more."
