In exciting news from the Star Wars video game front, Star Wars Outlaws has nabbed three nominations for The Game Awards, according to Variety. The franchise's first open-world game could win its categories when the award show airs on December 12.

The first award nomination is Best Performance, going to Humberly González in the role of Kay Vess, which feels so rewarding for her. She discussed at gamescom 2024 how Kay was such a natural character for her, thanks to the character's flaws, saying:

"I think it naturally came to me. I always love playing characters that are a little bit sassy and witty, kind of quick to clap back. I just kind of used that natural attitude that came to me, and obviously, the character depends on once we knew it was a scoundrel story, that I was in Star Wars. The tone just adds to the relevance of the world."

The second nomination is for the category of Innovation in Accessibility, which became a category in 2020. The topic of accessibility has become more and more important in the video game industry. The wider range of accessibility, the more games can be enjoyed by players. The customization for Star Wars Outlaws was a highlight of the game, so it's great to see it rewarded.

The final category is be far the most prestigious along with the heaviest competition. It's up for Best Action/Adventure Game, running against several fan favorite titles. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Silent Hill 2, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom are all great contenders. However, ASTRO BOT is more than likely the clear favorite, as it tied Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for most nominations along with being in the running for Game of the Year.

We'll have to wait and see until December 12 if Star Wars Outtlaws wins, but for now, the nominations are quite the honor.
