Skeleton Crew might be over, and we want to see more from the show. That doesn't mean it has to be on the screen. After episode 5, "You Have A Lot To Learn About Pirates," I saw an idea floating around that I wanted to talk about.
My buds over at Radio Rebellion Podcast posted on their Bluesky account, "If Skull Ridge Mountain doesn’t become a ride at Disney World, then what are we doing." And what a genius, mad lad idea! Since Galaxy's Edge is set in the sequel trilogy, it could fit right in!
I could see the ride starting with the spa area with Disney cast members dressed like the Hotelier played by Julie Ann Emery in the episode. They welcome guests in, showing us around to lead us to where we need to go. Then suddenly, the pirates attack, just like in the episode. Cast members dressed like the villains "kidnap" the group, taking them away from the Hotelier. We get rescued by Cthallops, who ushers us into a mine car to make our escape.
This is where the actual ride would kick in, letting us traverse through the underground twists, turns, and traps to avoid until we find Captain Tak Rennod's treasure hold. But waiting for us is Jod Na Nawood and SM-33, just moments after Wim triggered the floor trap for the kids to make their escape. This could be done with the same projections or video used for Rise of the Resistance with Daisy Ridley's Rey Skywalker. As Jod menacingly approaches with the lightsaber, SM-33 hits another trigger. The ride ends with a drop and the car "sliding through the tunnels" that spits us out on the side of the mountain. There, the New Republic X-Wings sees our car and hauls us back to safety.
The other option would be to make a Lanupa-themed spa in one of the resorts or at least a shop. This would be a great place to sell limited edition Star Wars items. At the very least, add in Lanupa items to the shopping area around Batuu. Something! This is too good of an idea to pass up.
The ride is what I really want. I've only been to Batuu once. While Rise of the Resistance and Smuggler's Run were both fun, there is always room for more excitement at Disney.
Skeleton Crew is now available to stream on Disney+.
