May the 4th has come early for Star Wars fans because Lucasfilm Animation has revealed its next entry into the Star Wars: Tales anthology series, bringing back two fan favorites.

Tales of the Underworld will put bounty hunters Cad Bane and Asajj Ventress in the spotlight. The trailer and new poster from StarWars.com gave us quite a bang on this Tuesday, teasing several new characters. The series will return on May 4, 2025 to Disney+.

StarWars.com specifically notes this season will be a look "at how Ventress and Bane are surviving in the shadow of the Empire." This puts the shorts well before the events of The Bad Batch and The Book of Boba Fett. However, the trailer hints we might see some interesting stories like Cad Bane's origin story and a possible padawan for Ventress before she trained Omega.

Tales of the Underworld sees the return of Nika Futterman, who has played the character of Asajj Ventress since The Clone Wars. It was a massive surprise for the ex-Sith assassin to return in Season 3 of The Bad Batch, where Futterman once again reprised her role. Corey Burton is back once again as Cad Bane. Like Futterman, he has portrayed the bounty hunter since The Clone Wars and voiced him in The Book of Boba Fett for Bane's live-action appearance.

Joining the cast are Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez.

This third installment follows in the footsteps of the previous anthology animated miniseries Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire. This format allows for certain characters to explore more of their story and lives. In the past, the focus has been Count Dooku before he left the Jedi Order, Ahsoka Tano, Morgan Elsbeth, and Barriss Offee.

Tales of the Underworld arrives on May 4, 2025, exclusively on Disney+. You can get the full details on the series on StarWars.com. View the trailer below.
