Young Jedi Adventures Recap: Lys and the Snowy Mountain Rescue
Young Jedi Adventures "Lys and the Snowy Mountain Rescue" opens with our favorite Jedi younglings on the snowy planet of Andraven. In a small town, they ride on wellagrins, which look like space seals with horns on their heads. They're joined by two other Andraven kids named Gumar and Jam along with the wellagrin trainer, Varna.
Lys Solay, always the best with animals, is particularly doing well with wellagrin riding. She adores meeting new creatures all the time! Nubs and Kai Brightstar aren't doing as well, but their critters still seem to like them. Varna gets a call from Jedi Master Zia Zanna, who is grateful for the Andravens inviting the younglings for the wellagrin migrations. The group will take them to the other side of the mountain to new orchards. The kids need to stay close to the trail to avoid avalanches and also get there before dark before it's stormy at night. Their friend Nash Durango will fly Varna to the other side of the mountain. With that, everyone moves out!
Led by Gumar, the Jedi and Jam start up the mountain as the wellagrin happily "swim" through the snow. Gumar shows everyone how to recall the creatures on his flute, and Jam hands each of the Jedi their own instrument. The flutes are harder than they look to play, as Kai learns firsthand, making a sound like an ill bantha. When one of the wellagrins named Snowball goes off the trail, Lys jumps into action on her flute. Only, she's never used it before. The off-tune and high-pitched sound scare all the creatures, and they run. It also causes an avalanche!
The kids scramble to higher ground! Luckily, the wellagrins can swim perfectly fine through the snow in an avalanche. The problem is the wave of snow takes them far away from the group. Kai suggests they split up to find the herd.
Lys and Gumar find one of the wellagrins tangled. Lys uses her skills with creatures to keep it calm and untangle it. Kai, Nubs, and Jam call in really needing their help! The boys can't get one of their animals to move. Lys arrives and sees it staring at the fruit in a tree. She gets it down and leads it back to the herd.
One by one, the kids gather together the wellagrins. The group makes it to the top of the mountain, but the sun is starting to set as the snow begins to fall with the coming storm. Jam, who has been caring for a baby wellagrin, spots some fruit nearby to feed his creature and leaves the group.
The storm quickly worsens! Jam can't see the group and vice versa. Lys begins to panic, not knowing what to do anymore. Nubs reminds her what Master Zia always tells them when things get hard: Slow down and take a breath.
Together, Kai and Nubs sit with Lys. The three Jedi meditate through the Force. Lys realizes the wind sounds sort of like their flutes. She plays her instrument, which Jam hears. He plays his back, which the group picks up. Lys leads the group until they find Jam!
But as they run together, it triggers another avalanche! Everyone is able to jump on a wellagrin except for Jam! Lys races after him on her creature! Pulling him to safety with her, she leads the group and rides down the other side of the mountain. They slide right into camp, where Nash and Varna are waiting.
That night, as the wellagrin eat in the orchard, the younglings share their story with Varna and Master Zia. And this is where Young Jedi Adventures' "Lys and the Snowy Mountain Rescue" comes to an end.
