This Week in Star Wars Comics: January held everything back for this week

After three weeks of releasing one, maybe two titles, January goes out with a massive drop of eight comic books to wrap up the month. There's so much to get to, so let's dive right into it!

This Week in Star Wars Comics we have A New Legacy, The High Republic Adventures Annual, Ewoks, and more!

A New Legacy #1

Let's start with the big title this week: A New Legacy #1. This is a one-shot celebrating a decade of storytelling since Marvel launched their first comic book under the Disney era. This mega issue has three stories featuring fan-favorite characters like Doctor Aphra, Darth Momin, Scar Squadron, and more. The team is a group of all star writers and artists from the last ten years. They are Charles Soule, Jason Aaron, and Kieron Gillen penning the story with Salva Espín, Leonard Kirk, and Ramon Rosanas illustrating. Steve McNiven is the cover artist with variant covers by Leinil Francis Yu and Kyle Hotz.

The High Republic Adventures Phase III Annual

The other mega comic out this week is The High Republic Adventures Phase III Annual which has multiple members of Project Luminous writing short stories for the issue. These focus on tales from fan favorite characters like Vernestra Rwoh, Driggit, Churo the Hutt, and more. It will also set up the event for the upcoming Battle of Eriadu. The High Republic Adventures Phase III is written by Charles Soule, Rosemary Soule, Alyssa Wong, Zoraida Córdova, Justina Ireland, and Cavan Scott. The illustrators for the comic are Andy Duggan, Liana Kangas, Juan Samu, Nick Brokenshire, and Colin Craker with Eduardo Francisco and Augusto Grillo as the cover artists.

Ewoks #4

This fuzzy series comes to an end this week as our favorite Ewok warrior Wicket leads his people into a final stand against the Empire who have once again come to their world. However, the battle gets complicated when an angry Gorax enters the fray! Ewoks #4 is written by Steve Orlando and the illustrators are Laura Braga and Álvaro López with Pete Woods as the cover artist.

The High Republic Adventures #14

The Battle of Eriadu breaks out, kicking off the final arc of The High Republic Adventures. Lula, Zeen, and their team must defend the planet against the Nihil to help turn the tide of war. However, something sinister lurks in the shadows, but no one knows which side this thing serves. The High Republic Adventures #14 is written by Daniel José Older, and illustrated by Harvey Tolibao, who is also the cover artist.

The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #4

Another series wrapping up this week is Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #4 which features the Jedi turned monster hunter, Ty Yorrick, and her Not-Padawan-But-Definitely-Her-Padawan, Drewen Qweebjillan, as they cross the Nihil Stormwall to assist Jedi Master Keeve Trennis. However, an old enemy of Ty arises, which will challenge Ty in this finale. Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone #4 s written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Vincenzo Riccardi, and the cover artist is Jake Bartok.

The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear #4

The last single issue out this week, which will also conclude a series, is Echoes of Fear #4. Jedi Knight Reath Silas and Padawan Amadeo Azzazzo have searched desperately for any answers about how to defeat the Nihil's weapon, the Force-eating creatures called the Nameless. They search for the powerful Force artifact called the Rod of Ages to aid them in the fight. Will their mission be successful? Echos of Fear #4 is written by George Mann, illustrated by Vincenzo Federici, and the cover artist is Eduardo Mello.

Trade Paperbacks

There are two trade paperbacks out now. The first is Jango Fett: Trail of Lost Hope by Ethan Sacks and Leinil Francis Yu. The second is The High Republic Adventures – Saber for Hire by Cavan Scott and Rachael Stott. Both of these series ran last year, collecting their issues into one place.
