This Week in Star Wars Comics: Star Wars Splash Page Podcast

It's a weird week with no Star Wars comics, so let's talk about a podcast instead.

It's strange not to have any new releases for Star Wars comics to talk about this week. So, instead of diving into the splash pages of the weekly adventure from a galaxy far, far away, let's dive into a different kind of splash page:

Let's talk about Star Wars Splash Pages podcast.

If you've been following the weekly editions of This Week in Star Wars Comics, you've probably seen Star Wars Splash Pages in my articles. They share the covers for each week's comics in a nice little social media post, which I appreciate to help show an image in one place of what I'm covering.

But it was only quite recently that I realized that this Twitter account I've followed for years had a podcast! Pulling up the list of their nearly 400 episodes, I jumped right in to try it! Hosted by Jeff McGee and Matt Moore, I discovered a show that was exactly what I was looking for.

I love Star Wars Comics, but I don't always have the time or funds to get every single issue. There are also times when I might not be interested in the comic, but I at least want a good summary of what happened. Staying updated with this information is pretty essential for my job here at Dork Side of the Force. This is where Matt and Jeff come in!

Star Wars Splash Page breaks down every issue released each week. It's not just a review. They go panel by panel, sometimes reading the dialogue (with voices and sound effects that they make themselves!), and explain what happens in the story. I love this approach. If there's an issue I don't want to personally buy, but I want to know what happens, I pop on Star Wars Splash Page while I walk my dog and get the basic story.

Jeff and Matt are super likable hosts. With their show being nine years old and over 400 episodes, they have that old-school podcast feeling from the early wild days of the craft before people were sponsored or pushing promotions. It's clear they're doing this week to week because they genuinely love Star Wars comics. They want to share their passion for these stories. While I haven't scrolled all the way back through their entire history, I'd be interested to look at any of their Star Wars Legends coverage if it's there.

If you haven't given Star Wars Splash Page podcast a try, be sure you do! It's a great way to stay up to date with Star Wars comics without having to break the bank!

You can find Star Wars Splash Page wherever you get your podcasts!
